Proto-metal

This genre emerged in the late 1960s and early 1970s and is characterized by its heavy, distorted guitar riffs and thunderous drumming. It combines elements of blues, rock, and psychedelic music, with a focus on dark, heavy themes like death, destruction, and the occult. Proto-metal laid the groundwork for the heavy metal genre that would emerge later in the decade, and is often associated with bands like Black Sabbath and Deep Purple.
